1 The Divisions of Revelation

It is said that the book of Revelation is the hardest to understand book of the Bible. Every vision in it is portrayed in a highly symbolic way. Add to this thing the fact that there are obscure sections whose starting or ending parts are not clear. This topic will try to show the starting and ending parts of these sections. Only the obscure sections are what will be discussed in this topic. In case the reader would like to see all the sections of the book according to the understanding of the writer of this article, the page is just a click or tap away: Tables of Sections of Revelation

Let’s have the Seven Seals which includes the Seven Trumpets within its 7th Seal as our “Main Timeline Reference” or “MTR.”

The Fourth Section or Hidden Seals Section

THEME The Redeemed People of God and the Punishments of Evil Peoples
RANGE chapter 14:1 to 16:21
SUBSECTIONS The Lamb and the 144,000 (ch 14:1-5)
The Messages of the Three Angels (ch 14:6-13)
The Two Harvests (ch 14:14-20)
The Angels with the Seven Last Plagues (ch 15:1-8)
The Bowls of God’s Wrath (ch 16:1-21)

The Lamb and the 144,000

(Rev 14:1 NIV) Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.
(Rev 14:2 NIV) And I heard a sound from heaven like the roar of rushing waters and like a loud peal of thunder. The sound I heard was like that of harpists playing their harps.
(Rev 14:3 NIV) And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.
(Rev 14:4 NIV) These are those who did not defile themselves with women, for they kept themselves pure. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were purchased from among men and offered as firstfruits to God and the Lamb.
(Rev 14:5 NIV) No lie was found in their mouths; they are blameless.

As the author understands it, there is no connection contextually between this vision and the immediate preceding one – the vision of the beast which has two horns like a lamb and which speaks like a dragon.

Here, we will see the Lamb with the 144,000 Israelites that had already been sealed up with His name and His Father’s name on their foreheads. From what time setting this sealing was? It was on the Sixth Seal! See Revelation 7:3-4.

In verse 3, a new song was mentioned but its wordings are not written. Some people say this new song is the new song sung by the 4 Living Creatures and the 24 Elders in Revelation 5:9-10. Here is their song:

(Rev 5:9 NIV)  And they sang a new song: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.
(Rev 5:10 NIV)  You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.”

Let’s envisage that this song is part of the vision we are discussing. Look at the first part of verse 9 – the underlined one. It is giving us a hint that this subsection is a (re)opening of a seal by our Lord Yeshua.

(Rev 14:3 NIV)  And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.

No one could learn the song except the 144,000 and they could have learned the song from the 4 Living Creatures and the 24 Elders who are just in front of them. The last sentence in the verse could be a visionally time related information. No one would be able to sing the song before the Sixth Seal except, of course, before the First Seal. That means, no seal of the scroll would be reopened except the seals that these 144,000 inhabit which are the 6th and the 7th seals.

The “new song” being sung in this vision, implies that this vision is the 6th Seal reopened. What we are going to do next is to study the other subsections of this part of the book and compare them to the Main Timeline Reference.

The Messages of the Three Angels

The First Angel

(Rev 14:6 NIV) Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth — to every nation, tribe, language and people.
(Rev 14:7 NIV) He said in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.”

Notice verse 7 …Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.” These are symbolic hints. Let’s compare them with the “first part” of the Seven Trumpets (1st Trump up to the 4th) of the Main Timeline Reference (Revelation 8:7-12), the events that followed the sealing of the 144,000 Israelites.

Earth:  1st Trumpet
Sea:      2nd Trumpet
Springs of water: 3rd Trumpet
Heaven: 4th Trumpet

The comparison now has moved from the Sixth Seal to the Seventh Seal on the Main Timeline Reference (MTR). (The 7th Seal contains within itself the 7 Trumpets.)

The Second Angel

(Rev 14:8 NIV) A second angel followed and said, “Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great, which made all the nations drink the maddening wine of her adulteries.”

Who is responsible for the prostitute’s downfall?

(Rev 17:16 NIV) The beast and the ten horns you saw will hate the prostitute. They will bring her to ruin and leave her naked; they will eat her flesh and burn her with fire.

That is very clear. Now read this verse:

(Rev 17:12 KJV)  And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.

This verse tells that the ten kings (horns) together with the beast will have authority for one hour. This one hour could be the one hour mentioned in Rev 18:10, 17, and 19 about the judgment and destruction of Babylon the Great. The literal duration of this time is too short for those events. If one will expand this one hour using the 360-day prophetic year, 360 divided by 24, the result will be 15 days. That is still a very short time. Look at this passage:

(Rev 17:9 NIV)  “This calls for a mind with wisdom. The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits.
(Rev 17:10 NIV)  They are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for a little while.

Aren’t these shortnesses of time a very strong indication that when the angel of Rev 14:8 announces “Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great…” it is also declaring that the beast has just come out recently? At this time of Babylon’s fall, the false prophet has not yet arrived because the ten horns of the beast are still ten (see Daniel 7:8, 20, 24, and Rev 17:16).

Let’s now find the location of the coming out of the beast from our MTR. We are now somewhere on the first part of the Trumpets (from the 1st to the 4th Trumpet). We will see no mention of “beast” here and that is because the symbolism used here is different. The imagery (not image) of beasts in Daniel and here in Revelation is one kind of symbolism that is used to represent kingdoms or empires. The other imagery that is also used to represent kingdom or empire is “mountain.” And we will find that on the Second Trumpet:

(Rev 8:8 KJV)  And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;

The Third Angel

Rev 14:9-13 LITV
(9)  And a third angel followed them, saying in a great voice, If anyone worships the beast and its image, and receives a mark on his forehead, or in his hand,
(10)  he also shall drink of the wine of the anger of God having been mixed undiluted in the cup of His wrath. And he will be tormented by fire and brimstone before the holy angels and before the Lamb.
(11)  And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever. And those worshiping the beast and its image have no rest night and day, even if anyone receives the mark of its name.
(12)  Here is the patience of the saints; here are the ones keeping the commands of God, and the faith of Jesus.
(13)  And I heard a voice out of Heaven saying to me, Write: Blessed are the dead, the ones dying in the Lord from now. Yes, says the Spirit, they shall rest from their labors, and their works follow with them.

The warnings of the third angel in verses 9 give us a hint that the false prophet has already arrived at the world scene. Compare it with the Main Timeline Reference:

Rev 8:10-12 KJV
(10)  And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;
(11)  And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.
(12)  And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.

Doesn’t a star denote a saint or a prophet (Dan 12:3)? Isn’t our Lord Yeshua the Light or Lamp of the world? Aren’t the truths of God and His Gospels the Living Water that runs through these rivers and springs of water (see John 4:14, 7:38)? Doesn’t Rev 8:10 say there will be a saint or a prophet who will act like our Messiah and will strongly influence the world’s religious teachings? This prophet is a false one or will become one. Isn’t this the False Prophet we are referring to that has already arrived in the Message of the 3rd Angel? He will twist the teachings and truths of our Lord God and will cause a religious persecution/martyrdom. This persecution/martyrdom is mentioned in Rev 13:10 and 15. It is what is told to the souls under the altar in the 5th Seal (Rev 6:9-11).

Now here’s a question that must be considered. It is the reason why the 4th Trumpet is included in the last passage presented above. Where does the “final” persecution belong:

1) in the 3rd Trumpet where there’s a phrase that says “many people died” or
2) in the 4th Trumpet where the symbolic smiting and darkening of the sun, the moon, and the stars by a third occurs?

This question, together with the fact that the receiving of the mark of the beast was mentioned in Rev 14 verses 9 and 11 are the reasons why we are not going to limit the time frame of the “Message of the Third Angel” to the 3rd Trumpet only. It will be better if we temporarily leave this topic now but we will make a reminder that look like this:

/////////////////////// REMINDERS ////////////////////////
1) In what Trumpet does the final persecution/martyrdom belong?
//////////////////// END OF REMINDER/////////////////////

That will be easy to recognize.

The 2nd Harvest

Rev 14:17-20 ESV

(17)  Then another angel came out of the temple in heaven, and he too had a sharp sickle.
(18)  And another angel came out from the altar, the angel who has authority over the fire, and he called with a loud voice to the one who had the sharp sickle, “Put in your sickle and gather the clusters from the vine of the earth, for its grapes are ripe.”
(19)  So the angel swung his sickle across the earth and gathered the grape harvest of the earth and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
(20)  And the winepress was trodden outside the city, and blood flowed from the winepress, as high as a horse’s bridle, for 1,600 stadia.

This “harvest” is about the wrath of God which is figuratively likened to a great winepress. The wrath of God doesn’t stop in this vision; it ends with the seven last plagues of the very next vision:

(Rev 15:1 RV)  And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, seven angels having seven plagues, which are the last, for in them is finished the wrath of God.

This wrath of God is portrayed in the 6th Seal as looming.

Rev 6:15-17 Murdock

(15)  And the kings of the earth, and the nobles, and the captains of thousands, and the rich men, and the men of valor, and every servant and free man, hid themselves in caves, and in the clefts of the mountains;
(16)  and they said to the mountains and to the clefts, Fall over us, and hide us from the face of him who sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
(17)  For the great day of their wrath is come; and who is able to stand?

The great day of their wrath has arrived but…

Rev 7:1-3 Murdock

(1)  And after these things I saw four angels, who stood on the four corners of the earth; and they held the four winds of the earth, so that the wind blew not on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on the trees.
(2)  And I saw another angel, and he came up from the rising of the sun; and he had the seal of the living God; and he called out, with a loud voice, to the four angels to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, saying:
(3)  Hurt ye not the earth, nor the sea, nor the trees, until we shall have sealed the servants of our God upon their foreheads.

The four angels who were given authority to hurt the earth and the sea (wrath of God) are told what they should not do until the servants of God are sealed upon their foreheads but the passage that follows after the 6th Seal says:

Rev 8:6-7 KJV

(6)  And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.
(7)  The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

Does v7 mean that the wrath of God starts at the 1st Trumpet? NO! the group of angels who were told not to hurt the earth, the sea, and the trees are the four angels of the 6th Seal and not the seven angels of the Seven Trumpets. The four angels of the 6th Seal are said to be the four angels in the 6th Trumpet:

Rev 9:13-15 KJV

(13)  And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,
(14)  Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.
(15)  And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.

They were held ready for the time indicated in verse 15, to execute the wrath of God? The fire, smoke, and sulfur that will kill a third of men were called “plagues.” Are these plagues the first three plagues in connection with the seven last plagues? Does this vision correspond to the vision of the 2nd Harvest? Let’s go back to that vision.

1600 stadia represent the symbolic quantity of blood of those slain at the winepress of the wrath of God. Let’s do some “experimental” computations with this number. A verse (Revelation 9:15) from the Sixth Trumpet of our Main Timeline Reference says that a third of men were to be killed. So, let’s multiply the number 1600 by 3 and we’ll get 4800. Divide 4800 by 4 (the number of the angels of Revelation 9:15) and the quotient will be 1200. Each of the four angels in the 6th Seal will have 1200 stadia. Does that make sense in view of the symbolic numbers used in the sealing of the 12000 times 12 set aside people? As for the author, it does make sense. But 1200 stadia is the maximum that each of them could have. One third is meant in the 6th Trumpet, so, each of them would only have 400 stadia.

The wrath of God that the symbolic four angels (6th Seal) were going to execute eventually doesn’t end in the vision of the 2nd Harvest; it ends in the vision of the Seven Last Plagues which immediately follows it. That would probably mean that the remaining two thirds will also be killed in the vision of the Seven Last Plagues who are hinted to be:

Rev 9:20-21 KJV

(20)  And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:
(21)  Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

These men are (those who are portrayed as) unrepentant. The three plagues are past but there remain seven more plagues which are the last.

The wrath of God which the four angels are to execute consists of ten plagues in all. (The same number of plagues poured out in Egypt at the time of Moses and Aaron.) These things would make us infer that the treading of the winepress of the wrath of God in the 2nd Harvest (Revelation 14:20) and the killing of a third of men in the 6th Trumpet (Revelation 9:15) depict the same event. We will discuss some more of these things when we arrived at the topic “The Two Myriads of Myriads Troops.”

The Seven Last Plagues

Some say that these seven last plagues belong to the Seventh Trumpet. The following verse from the Sixth Bowl (itself) will prove that wrong.

(Rev 16:15 LITV)  Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is the one watching and keeping his garments, that he does not walk naked, and they may see his shame.

Our Lord Yeshua has not yet arrived at this point in time! Let’s have this verse as our marker which we will call “Marker-A.” According to Mat 24:30-31 and 1 Thess 4:16-17, the Lord’s coming will be just before the 7th Trumpet is to be sounded. So, all the preceding plagues including this 6th Bowl up to Marker-A are all BEFORE the 7th Trumpet.

A question similar to the following might arise: if that is the case, can the plagues and events before Marker-A be referenced from any trumpet earlier than the 7th one? Read this verse from the Sixth Trumpet about the two witnesses.

(Rev 11:6 LITV) These have the authority to shut up the heaven, that no rain may rain in the days of their prophecy. And they have authority over the waters, to turn them into blood, and to strike the earth with every plague, as often as they desire.

Now, compare it to the following verses:

(Rev 16:3 LITV) And the second angel poured out his bowl onto the sea. And it became blood, as of a dead one, and every soul of life died in the sea.
(Rev 16:4 LITV) And the third angel poured out his bowl onto the rivers, and onto the springs of the waters; and it became blood.

…to strike the earth with every plague, AS OFTEN AS THEY DESIRE. This could mean the frequency of a particular redoable plague or plagues.

From now on we will also call this Fourth Section the “Hidden Seals Section” for a faster recall of what it constitutes and represents.

The Fifth Section

THEME Babylon the Great and the Bride of the Lamb
RANGE chapter 17:1 to 19:10
SUBSECTIONS The Great Whore and the Beast (ch 17:1-18)
The Fall of Babylon the Great (ch 18:1-24)
The Rejoicing in Heaven (ch 19:1-10)

Finding the starting part of this section is not a problem but its ending part is not easy to locate. Even the people who divided every book of the Bible into chapters and verses made a mistake in locating the ending part of this section. They extended chapter 19 to include verses 11 to verse 21, believing that the vision of the Rider on the White Horse (v11 to v21) is part of this section that starts in chapter 17.

In the last part of this section (according to the author’s understanding), there’s a passage that when compared to another passage from the 7th Section will tell us that the vision of the Rider of the White Horse is not part or continuation of this section.

Here’s the passage from this section:
(Rev 19:6 NIV) Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
(Rev 19:7 NIV) Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.

The passage from the 7th Section:
(Rev 21:1 NIV) Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.
(Rev 21:2 NIV) I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.

In the first passage, it says that the Lord is already reigning and the time of the wedding of the Lamb and His Bride has come. In the second passage, it states that at the time of the wedding, the first heaven and the first earth had already passed away and the sea is no more. So the vision of the Rider of the White Horse clearly belongs to another section because the first heaven and the first earth and the sea still exist literally and figuratively during the time setting of that vision. The Beast is still in its place; the figurative “sea” and the physical heaven and earth are obviously existing too. (The writer believes that the sun, moon, and stars are figurative in the context of Rev 21:1-2.) Moreover, the vision of the Rider of the White Horse does not agree with this section’s theme, instead, that subsection, together with the others following it, up to “The Great White Throne” have their own theme (Wars and Judgments) and form another section.

THE SIXTH SECTION

THEME Wars and Judgments
RANGE chapter 19:11 to 20:15
SUBSECTIONS The Rider on the White Horse (ch 19:11-16)
The Defeat of the Beast and Its Armies (ch 19:17-21)
The Thousand Years (ch 20:1-6)
The Doom of Satan (ch 20:7-10)
The Great White Throne Judgment (ch 20:11-15)

Rev 19:11-21 KJV
(11)  And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
(12)  His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
(13)  And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
(14)  And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
(15)  And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
(16)  And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

This is the 1st vision of the Sixth Section. There is something very surprising in here that will be shown and explained in the topics: Linkable Sections and The Man of Revelation 13:18. It will be proven that this section is not the contextual continuation of the Fifth Section.

2 The Locust Army (Fifth Trumpet)

Many people are perplexed by this army of locusts. Let’s go back first to the Hidden Seals (4th) Section:

(Rev 14:9 KJV)  And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

(Rev 14:11 KJV)  And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

Look at v9 and v11, the mark on the forehead or hand, and the mark of the name of the beast are mentioned. Let’s now go to chapter 13.

(Rev 13:16 KJV)  And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
(Rev 13:17 KJV)  And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

What is to be enforced in the passage is not just the rule: No Mark: No Buying or Selling. In the BFBS/UBS Peshitta the word “causeth” in v16 can also mean “to force.” (See its Definition)

The mark that will be forced to a person on his/her forehead and right hand has something to do with beliefs and works that he/she should remember and do. (Read Deu 6:1-8 for the symbolic meaning of foreheads and hands.) The false prophet will force peoples to convert to his religion by implementing the rule: No Mark: No Buying or Selling. He is going to lead peoples astray by force.

Let’s compare a part of the Hidden Seals Section to our MTR and to Chapter 13:

It can be inferred from the correlations that the Locust Army and their king, Abaddon or Appolyon, are the implementers of the rule: No Mark, No Buying or Selling. Aside from the correlations, the author can’t still find a direct link between Rev 13:16-17 and the 5th Trumpet but the book of Joel can give us some light about the vision of the Locust Army.

(Joe 1:4 ESV)  What the cutting locust left, the swarming locust has eaten. What the swarming locust left, the hopping locust has eaten, and what the hopping locust left, the destroying locust has eaten.

It is shown in v4 the different kinds of locusts. These reflect stages in time according to some Bible commentators.

(Joe 1:6 ESV)  For a nation has come up against my land, powerful and beyond number; its teeth are lions’ teeth, and it has the fangs of a lioness.

The Hebrew word for “nation” in v6 has these definitions:

H1471  go^y
BDB Definition:
1) nation, people (noun masculine)
1a) nation, people
1a1) usually of non-Hebrew people
1a2) of descendants of Abraham
1a3) of Israel
1b) of swarm of locusts, other animals (figuratively)
1c) Goyim? = “nations” (noun proper masculine)

H1471 Strong’s Definition:
Apparently from the same root as H1465 (in the sense of massing); a foreign nation; hence a Gentile; also (figuratively) a troop of animals, or a flight of locusts: – Gentile, heathen, nation, people.

These invaders are portrayed to have:

  • Lion’s teeth ||  same with the locusts on the 5th Trumpet
  • Fangs of a lioness ||  in the 5th Trumpet, the locusts have women’s hair
  • They have the appearance of:

(Joe 2:4 KJV)  The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run.

… same with the locusts of Revelation.

This great and powerful army of Joel will appear after the great tribulation and the darkening of the heavenly hosts but before the great and terrible Day of the Lord:

Joe 2:6-10 ESV
(6) Before them peoples are in anguish; all faces grow pale.
(7) Like warriors they charge; like soldiers they scale the wall. They march each on his way; they do not swerve from their paths.
(8) They do not jostle one another; each marches in his path; they burst through the weapons and are not halted.
(9) They leap upon the city, they run upon the walls, they climb up into the houses, they enter through the windows like a thief.
(10) The earth quakes before them; the heavens trembleThe sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.

Here is the same passage again but with a different version:

Joe 2:6-10 YLT
(6) From its face pained are peoples, All faces have gathered paleness.
(7) As mighty ones they run, As men of war they go up a wall, And each in his own ways they do go, And they embarrass not their paths.
(8) And each his brother they press not, Each in his way they go on, If by the missile they fall, they are not cut off.
(9) In the city they run to and fro, On the wall they run, Into houses they go up by the windows, They go in as a thief.
(10) At their face trembled hath the earthShaken have the heavensSun and moon have been black, And stars have gathered up their shining.

It can be seen from this passage (two versions) that verses 6 and 10 make (more) sense in relation to other verses if they will be looked upon in the perspective of time. The word “face” in both verses can also mean “before” or “beforetime” as in Deu 2:12, Jos 11:10, 1Sa 9:9, and Isa 41:26.

H6440 BDB Definition:
1) face
1a) face, faces
1b) presence, person
1c) face (of seraphim or cherubim)
1d) face (of animals)
1e) face, surface (of ground)
1f) as adverb of loc/temp
1f1) before and behind, toward, in front of, forward, formerly, from beforetimebefore
1g) with preposition
1g1) in front of, before, to the front of, in the presence of, in the face of, at the face or front of, from the presence of, from before, from before the face of

Together, verses 6 and 10 support what is said in Mat 24:29 – pain or tribulation (4th Seal) then darkening with earthquakes and shaking of heavens (6th Seal).

According to the symbolisms used and the time of the appearance of the locusts in Joel, it can be said that the locusts in Joel are the same locusts in the 5th Trumpet. But MAYBE, the army of locusts portrayed in the 5th Trumpet is just one of the stages in time of the locusts in Joel –  the time of the “destroying” locusts because the king of locusts in the 5th Trumpet is called “Abaddon” and “Apollyon” which both mean “destroyer.”

The following passages show what the locusts in Joel did.

(Joe 1:7 KJV)  He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white.

Joe 1:10-12 KJV
(10)  The field is wasted, the land mourneth; for the corn is wasted: the new wine is dried up, the oil languisheth.
(11)  Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished.
(12)  The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.

Joe 1:17-20 KJV
(17)  The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered.
(18)  How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.
(19)  O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field.
(20)  The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness.

In the 5th Trumpet, the army of locusts will do and will not do the following:

Rev 9:4-5 KJV
(4)  And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.
(5)  And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.

By comparing the verses from Joel to that of Revelation above, an apparent contradiction becomes evident in what the locusts in both parts of the Bible did or will do and will not do in regard to trees and green growth. But this could only be at the time of the “destroying” locusts because a verse in Revelation 13 is saying that:

(Rev 13:13 KJV)  And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

This verse is written before the passage about the markings on the foreheads or hands and the enforcement of the rule: No Mark: No Buying or Selling.

Figuratively, “fire” may be understood as:

(Eze 5:1 KJV)  And thou, son of man, take thee a sharp knife, take thee a barber’s razor, and cause it to pass upon thine head and upon thy beard: then take thee balances to weigh, and divide the hair.
(Eze 5:2 KJV)  Thou shalt burn with fire a third part in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled: and thou shalt take a third part, and smite about it with a knife: and a third part thou shalt scatter in the wind; and I will draw out a sword after them.

(Eze 5:12 KJV)  A third part of thee shall die with the pestilence, and with famine shall they be consumed in the midst of thee: and a third part shall fall by the sword round about thee; and I will scatter a third part into all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them.

Look at the correlations between the two verses above according to the color of the texts. “Fire” as famine is very well suited in the context of Joel chapter one. Just as real locusts are pests in the gardens, farms, and fields; the locusts in Joel will cause shortages of food and naturally it will include other things of life.

Let’s understand the picture.

The locusts in Joel and Revelation represent the same people(s) but the locusts in Revelation correspond only to the “destroying locusts” of Joel with respect to stages in time. So, this means that there are “imaginary locusts” in Revelation that corresponds to the 1st three kinds of locusts in Joel. It is during the time of these “imaginary locusts” the “fire” as famine is to be caused by these locusts and their king – the beast with two horns like a lamb but speaks like a dragon (Rev 13).

Let’s return to the 5th Trumpet.

(Rev 9:4 KJV)  And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.

Biblically, a “tree” could SOMETIMES be referring to a nation, kingdom, empire, or its ruler as in Ezekiel 31, Amos 2:9, and Zech 10:11-11:1-2. It could sometimes be referring to an individual as in Jer 17:7-8.

“Grass” of pasture lands are literal food for some type of animals but sometimes, they mean “all people” as in Isaiah 40:6-7.

The author of  this article can’t tell if the “grass of the field,” “green growths,” and “trees” in the 5th Trumpet are to be understood as literal, figurative, or both.

Like the Scorpions of  the Earth

(Rev 9:3 KJV)  And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

(Rev 9:10 KJV)  And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.

What do “scorpions,” their “torment,” and their “sting” mean? There’s a verse in the Old Testament that says:

(1Ki 12:11 KJV)  And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

Metaphorically, “scorpion” could be regarded as a kind chastisement – more than just a “whip.” Here’s the definition of the word:

H6137 ?aqra^b ak-rawb’
Of uncertain derivation; a scorpion; figuratively a scourge or knotted whip: – scorpion.

We will not discuss the context of 1Kings 12:11. Let’s go back again to the 5th Trumpet.

In the Aramaic BFBS/UBS Peshitta, the verb “tormented” in v5 above has the definition:

$nq verb Dt

D
1 to torture Qum, Syr, JBAmb, JBA, Man. –(a) fig.: to trouble, confound, torment PTA, Sam, Syr. –(b) to chastise Sam.
2 to destroy by drowning or strangling JLAtg, PTA, Sam, LJLA.
3 p.p. ??????? : tormented; see also s.v. mšnq adj.? Syr.

Gt
1 to be tortured Syr.

Dt
1 to be tortured Sam, Syr. –(a) to be chastised Sam.
2 to be drowned LJLA.

Ct
1 to be tortured Syr.

The word could mean “to be tortured” or “to be chastised” or both. Sometimes, a bad guy “chastises” a good guy because the former believes that what he/she is doing is a disciplinary action even if it is really a torture.

How about the “sting” of a scorpion? Its definition follows:

(wqs) noun pl. emphatic

1 needle, goad Syr. –(a) thorn Syr.
2 metaph.: Syr. –(a) goading, urge Syr. –(b) scruple Syr.
3 sting, stinger JBA. –(a) stinging CPA, Syr.

Conclusion of the writer

The locusts, by the sting in their tails, will torment or chastise the people who don’t have the Seal of God. This could very well be the enforcement of No Mark: No Buying or Selling which will cause shortages of food and other things of life. (The end result of what real locusts do!) The people will be goaded (one meaning of “sting”) to have a mark on their foreheads or hands, that is, to convert to the religion of the locusts. They are to be “led astray” which the Hebrew word “abaddon” carries:

H11 ‘a?baddo^n

Let’s not forget the inference from the chart of comparison presented at the start of this topic.

Note the last phrase of Revelation 9:6 “but death will elude them.” It can not be literal. “Death” here could mean the way of life these people lived before they will be disciplined that’s why they will seek it. Here’s the death I’m saying:

(Eph 2:1-5 ISV)
(1) You used to be dead because of your offenses and sins,
(2) that you once practiced as you lived according to the ways of this present world and according to the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit that is now active in those who are disobedient.
(3) Indeed, all of us once behaved like them in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of our flesh and senses. By nature we were destined for wrath, just like everyone else.
(4) But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love for us
(5) even when we were dead because of our offenses, made us alive together with the Messiah (by grace you have been saved),

3 The Two Myriads of Myriads Troops

(Rev 9:16 LITV) And the number of the armies of the cavalry was two myriads of myriads; and I heard their number.
(Rev 9:17 ASV)  And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates as of fire and of hyacinth and of brimstone: and the heads of lions; and out of their mouths proceedeth fire and smoke and brimstone.

Who are these people? What we have about them are (a) their size that was only heard by John and (b) the color “jacinth” which is a hint. Let’s deal first with their size.

Some bible translators translate their size as “two hundred million,” that is two ten thousand times ten thousand. Which is correct “two myriads of myriads” or “two hundred million?” Their size, as for me, could only be expressed as either two groups of people or a literal single group of 200,000,000 people because of the number “two.” It will help if we knew who these people are.

What is this color hyacinth or jacinth in Rev 9:17?

Strong’s Greek Dictionary
G5191
ὑακιìνθινος
huakinthinos
hoo-ak-in’-thee-nos
From G5192; “hyacinthine” or “jacinthine,” that is, deep blue: – jacinth.

This word as you can see is from another word:

Strong’s Greek Dictionary
G5192
ὑαìκινθος
huakinthos
hoo-ak’-in-thos
Of uncertain derivation; the “hyacinth” or “jacinth,” that is, some gem of a deep blue color, probably the zirkon: – jacinth.

In the vision of the New Jerusalem in chapter 21 of Revelation, it is written:

(Rev 21:19 ASV)  The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald;
(Rev 21:20 ASV)  the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst.

In the 11th foundation you will find the gem jacinth numbered G5192 in Strong’s Greek Dictionary (the second word defined above). It is in the 11th foundation. Now let’s go to chapter 7 of this book and find the corresponding name of the tribe of Israel with the same ordinal number – 11th.

(Rev 7:4-8 ASV)
(4) And I heard the number of them that were sealed, a hundred and forty and four thousand, sealed out of every tribe of the children of Israel:
(5) Of the tribe of Judah were sealed twelve thousand: Of the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand; Of the tribe of Gad twelve thousand;
(6) Of the tribe of Asher twelve thousand; Of the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand; Of the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand;
(7) Of the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand; Of the tribe of Levi twelve thousand; Of the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand;
(8) Of the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand; Of the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand; Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.

Did you find it? We know that this tribe is divided further into two groups or tribes – Ephraim and Manasseh. Are they the two groups of (myriad of myriads) troops God is using to unleash the (first?) three plagues?

Remember the “experimental computations” we did in the explanation of a verse (Revelation 14:20) from the vision of the Two Harvest in the Hidden Seals Section? Here’s that verse:

(Rev 14:20 ESV)  And the winepress was trodden outside the city, and blood flowed from the winepress, as high as a horse’s bridle, for 1,600 stadia.

As was said there, this verse from the 2nd Harvest and a verse here in the 6th Trumpet…

(Rev 9:15 ESV)  So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour, the day, the month, and the year, were released to kill a third of mankind.

…are believe by the author to be depicting the same event. The link between these two visions was seen because of the computations involving the quantity of the symbolic blood of those slain at the Two Harvest (2nd harvest), the number of the symbolic angels here, and the result of those computations at the 6th Seal where the same angels here are present there.

Now, aside from the computations we made, there’s a passage in Joel chapter 3 that will help prove what the author is saying but before that, here first is the complete account of the vision of the 2nd Harvest:

Now, here is the passage from Joel:

(Joe 3:13 ESV)  Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Go in, tread, for the winepress is full. The vats overflow, for their evil is great.
(Joe 3:14 ESV)  Multitudes, multitudes, in the valley of decision! For the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.

Isn’t Joel 3:13 telling about the 2nd Harvest and aren’t the two “multitudes” in Joel 3:14 the two (myriad of myriads) troops? The troops of Ephraim and Manasseh! That is how this passage from Joel confirms that Revelation 14:20 (2nd Harvest) and Revelation 9:15 (6th Trumpet) depict the same event. This confirmation also proves in turn the validity of the re-opening of the 6th and the 7th Seals which comprise the “4th Section” or the “Hidden Seals Section.”

Maybe, some will ask if it is appropriate to use the list and order of the 12 tribes of Israel in chapter 7 in assigning the 12 gems of the “New Jerusalem” as their emblems. Consider these things:

– The vision of the New Jerusalem in chapter 21 is NOT literal. This city is likened to a bride – the bride of our Lord Yeshua. It represents God’s people – the 12 tribes of Israel.

– In the vision of the Sealing of the 12 tribes of Israel in chapter 7, the numerical values 12000 and 144 are also NOT literal. The numerical value 12000 and the numeral 144 are also present in the vision of the New Jerusalem which represent the whole house of Israel (12 tribes) and which hold the symbolic 12 precious stones.

Don’t these things make the two visions symbolically related? Now, the assigning of a gem as an emblem to each tribe of Israel is not explicitly or implicitly mentioned in any of the two visions, but, it has an Old Testament origin. It can be found in Exodus chapter 28. God instructed Moses to make holy vestments for his brother Aaron for glory and adornment. Twelve precious stones engraved with the corresponding names of the 12 tribes of Israel were to be set in the Breastplate of Judgment.

Jacinth or Chalcedony?

In the Aramaic rendition of Revelation 9:17, specifically that of BFBS/UBS Peshitta and the Crawford codex, the color “jacinth” in the breastplate of the riders is not there, instead it is the color “chalcedony” that is there. The Dutch Peshitta translation has this color also. The matching gem to this color is the 3rd gem in the Vision of the New Jerusalem and it corresponds to the tribe of Gad in the 6th Seal.

On the other hand, all the Greek based English Bibles I know have the color jacinth in the said verse. The Aramaic based English Bibles which are the works of Etheridge, Murdock, and Lamsa have the color jacinth as well. The Aramaic based Pad van Waarheid tot die Lewe Afrikaans Peshitta translation has the color jacinth too in Revelation 9:17.

How did this discrepancy happen? Well, we can only speculate but there are facts that we should know.

The book of Revelation is included in what they call the “western five.” These are the books of 2 Peter, 2 John, 3 John, Jude, and Revelation. The Aramaic originals of these books are yet to be found. All the existing Aramaic manuscripts or codices of these books are just copies or copies of copies of their originals.

As for me, the only thing that we can do to determine which color is really in Revelation 9:17 is to find out which color makes sense or makes more sense. And that is the color jacinth.

As far as the author knows, in all of the prophecies concerning the sons or descendants of Israel, only to Joseph’s sons (Ephraim and Manasseh) were given prophecies that tell something about their size or number. Here is one of them:

(Gen 48:19 KJV)  And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it: he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.

Look at the future then size of Ephraim in Genesis 48:19 again. It can also be expressed as “a myriad of myriads” or “a multitude of multitudes.” Even if this size refers to the people of Ephraim, their armies can surely be expressed as such. Manasseh will be a people and a great one. It can be expected from the verse that this people’s future armies can also be termed as such.

The fact that prophecies like this refer only to Joseph’s sons and not to any of his brothers gives more weight to the color jacinth as the 2nd color in the breastplate of the horsemen along with the colors of fire and brimstone.

The 11th gem (jacinth) of the “New Jerusalem” in Rev 21:19-20 will still correspond to the tribe of Joseph even if the order of the birth of the sons of Israel is used in assigning the gems to each tribe just like in Exodus.

The Four Angels and the Great River Euphrates

A verse in Revelation 9 says:

(Rev 9:15 KJV)  And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.

Another passage from the same chapter says:

(Rev 9:17 KJV)  And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.
(Rev 9:18 KJV)  By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.

Aren’t these two passages telling that the four angels and the two myriad of myriads army of horsemen symbolize the same troops or peoples? This means that the four angels symbolize the two myriads of myriads army of horsemen in this trumpet.

Now, if the imagery of these four angels was used to represent the two myriad of myriads troops which are also in the symbolic form, what about the great river Euphrates where the four angels are said to be bound in this (6th) Trumpet? Does this great river also represent the two myriads of myriads troops or their nations in some way or another such as their economies and resources? That’s what the author of this article believes. Could this great river Euphrates represent any other nation(s) or things or powers at the time of the 6th Bowl when it will be dried up?

(Rev 16:12 Murdock)  And the sixth poured his cup upon the great river Euphrates; and its waters dried up, so that a way might be prepared for the kings from the rising of the sun.

In this age, the literal river Euphrates is not a big problem for an invading force that will come from the east. The Great River Euphrates is a symbolic river which could very well be representing the armies of the 2 myriad of myriads. It’s very likely that their resources and/or implements of  war are what will be dried up so that a way might be prepared for the kings from the east.

Some people say that these two myriads of myriads troops are the armies of China and that their size is literally 2 hundred million. But at the time when the great river Euphrates will be dried up, isn’t it more likely that the armies of China will be on the side of the “kings from the east” than being the two myriads of myriads troops? If China will be involved in this military confrontation, she can’t be the 2 Myriad of Myriads horsemen (great river Euphrates) because she is an eastern country – more eastern than the territory of the beast.

Before we go to the next topic notice that the three symbolisms used to represent the people the two myriad of myriads horsemen represent meet here in the 6th Trumpet and the other places where the “four angels” and the “great river Euphrates” appear are in the 6th Seal and in the 6th Bowl respectively.

4 Linkable Sections

If you will read the whole of Revelation chapters 12 and 13, you will see that they are telling about a long prophecy that includes many events, past and future (at our time). You will see the story flows smoothly up to the last verse of chapter 13 and if you have read and agreed with the earlier parts of this article, then, you know that it stopped at that verse. Trying to prove otherwise will be very hard if not impossible for anyone. Instead, why don’t we try to connect and compare this whole Third Section not to the Fourth or Fifth Section but to the Sixth Section? Yes, to the Sixth Section which is also full of events – future events. There are verses in both sections that seem to indicate that they are contextually connected to each other. Here they are:

1) Third Section:
(Rev 12:5 KJV)  And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

Sixth Section:
(Rev 19:15 KJV)  And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

2) Third Section:
(Rev 13:11 KJV)  And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
(Rev 13:14 KJV)  And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

Sixth Section:
(Rev 19:20 KJV)  And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

We can see above that the beast with two horns like a lamb and spoke as a dragon in the Third Section was explained as the false prophet in the Sixth Section.

3) Third Section:
(Rev 12:3 KJV)  And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.

Sixth Section:
(Rev 20:2 KJV)  And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

As we can see, the dragon in the Third Section was also explained as the Devil and Satan in the Sixth Section.

Here’s another verse from the Sixth Section that also mentions some of the events in the Third Section:

(Rev 20:4 KJV)  And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

NOTE: If the reader has not yet read the explanation of the Fourth Section or the Hidden Seals Section, it is suggested that he/she read it first before continuing.

Now, let’s try to chronologically join the two sections together. First, the Third Section then the Sixth. Let’s have the Trumpets as our reference of events. We must first locate from our reference of events the last EVENT (not the last verse) of the Third Section. Here it is:

(Rev 13:17 KJV)  And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

This verse is the enforcement of the rule: No Mark: No Buying or Selling. This event, if you can still remember from the topic “The Locust Army (Fifth Trumpet),” is symbolically depicted in the Fifth Trumpet. So, if this last event of the Third Section was placed at the Fifth Trumpet, then the Sixth Trumpet must hold the first event(s) of the Sixth Section.

Rev 19:11-16 KJV

This is the Vision of the Rider of the White Horse. It is the first vision of the Sixth Section. As of the time of this writing, not a hint or clue that is strong enough had been found that will indicate a direct link between this vision and that of the 6th Trumpet contemporaneously. But we can look at the Hidden Seals Section which includes many events that are in parallel with the Trumpets. Remember the Vision of the Two Harvests – Revelation 14:20 (2nd Harvest) which also depicts the event in Revelation 9:15 of the 6th Trumpet as proven and confirmed by the “experimental computations” and by the passage from Joel 3:13-14?

Now, let’s make the Two Harvests (the second harvest) a bridge to a point in our reference – the Sixth Trumpet. What we must do now is to link to it an event from the Vision of the Rider of the White Horse.

Here’s a verse from the Vision of the Rider of the White Horse (Sixth Section):

(Rev 19:15 Murdock)  And from his mouth issued a sharp two-edged sword, that with it he could smite the nations; and he will rule the nations with a rod of iron; and he will tread the wine-press of the wrath of God Almighty.

A passage from the Vision of the Two Harvests (Hidden Seals Section):

(Rev 14:19 KJV)  And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
(Rev 14:20 KJV)  And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

Compare the bold lettered words from the two sections. Do you see the link?

It would help us to understand the Vision of the Rider of the White Horse if we will put in our minds that it is in symbolic form. The imagery used in the vision is in some way similar to that of the Woman and the Dragon of the Third Section. The author believes that the 2nd coming of our Lord is depicted NOT in the 1st part of the Vision of the Rider of the White Horse (Rev 19:11-16) but in the 2nd part of the vision (Rev 19:17-21). The 1st part is indicating the time of the treading of the winepress (of the wrath of God) which the 2nd Harvest (Rev 14:17-20) and the Two Myriad of Myriads Horsemen are portraying. This is the time of the 1st three plagues and the other plagues which are probably up to the time before Armageddon (6th Bowl). The 2nd part corresponds to the time of Armageddon and the 2nd Coming of the Lord Yeshua.

Does the Sixth Section a continuation or part two of the Third Section? The author knows one more proof that will help confirm what is said here. There are marks that were marked on the last verse of Section 3 and on the 1st verse of Section 6 linking these two sections as one continuous passage. This proof is part of the next topic. We’ll just make a reminder and add it to our List of Reminders. Here is what our reminder will look:

5 The MAN and His Number 666 (Tav Resh Samech Vav)

Rev 13:11-18 ESV

(11)  Then I saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon.
(12)  It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence, and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose mortal wound was healed.
(13)  It performs great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to earth in front of people,
(14)  and by the signs that it is allowed to work in the presence of the beast it deceives those who dwell on earth, telling them to make an image for the beast that was wounded by the sword and yet lived.
(15)  And it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak and might cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain.
(16)  Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead,
(17)  so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name.
(18)  This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666.

The Belief

Look at the passage above, the “another beast” in verse 11 up to verse 15 or 16 is known as the 2nd beast of Revelation 13. It is also known as the false prophet. That is the belief of almost every student of the Bible including the author of this article. In verse 18, there’s a “man” mentioned and this man has a number – 666. This “man” of verse 18 is widely believe to be the false prophet symbolized by the “another beast” or the 2nd beast in verse 11 up to verse 15 or 16.

Now, here are questions that will help the reader understand correctly what is meant in this topic:

1) Is it true that this “man” of verse 18 is really the false prophet?
2) Does the “another beast” or the 2nd beast truly represent the “man” of verse 18?
3) Or could it be that the “man” of verse 18 is distinct and a different person from the false prophet, the 2nd beast, or the “another beast?”

Remember these questions!

The Number

This number is believe to be encoded in the false prophet’s name.

In English Bibles, this number is written as “six hundred sixty six” or “six hundred sixteen” not “six six six” or “six one six.” In the Greek Texts where most English NT bible translations came from, this number is written in two ways:

1) Letters only: chi(600) xi(60) stigma(6).
2) Words: word for 600 word for 60 word for 6.

In ancient Hebrew and Aramaic, this number could be written as:
Tav(400) Resh(200) Samech(60) Vav(6)

The number 600 is divided into two parts (400 and 200) because Hebrew alphabet ends with the letter Tav which has a numerical value of 400. The number 600 is written [anciently] as Tav Resh (400 + 200). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hebrew_numerals#Main_table

For the adherents of Hebrew/Aramaic Primacy, these things can be viewed the other way around. If this number (666) was written in the Hebrew and/or Aramaic Revelation as Tav Resh Samech Vav, that is probably because of their individual meanings and not because of the numerals assigned to each of them.

Who Are the Ones Who Have This Number?

Surely, the “man” in verse 18 has this number and that is a solid biblical fact. But in verse 17, people are divided over the ownership of the word “number.” Some people including NT Bible translators believe that this word “number” belongs to the name of the 1st beast while the others to the name of the 2nd beast or the false prophet. That’s why we see two renderings of this verse:

(Rev 13:17 ESV) so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name.

(Rev 13:17 KJV) And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

The 1st translation which has the pronoun “its” is the rendering used by those who believe that the word “number” belongs to the 1st beast. The 2nd rendering which has the pronoun “his” is the one believe by the pro 2nd beast/false prophet. As for the author, this matter can be resolved by the following verses:

(Rev 15:2 ESV) And I saw what appeared to be a sea of glass mingled with fire—and also those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands.

It says here that the beast that has an image is the beast that has the number of its name. This beast according to…

(Rev 13:14 ESV) and by the signs that it is allowed to work in the presence of the beast it deceives those who dwell on earth, telling them to make an image for the beast that was wounded by the sword and yet lived.

…is the beast that was wounded by the sword and yet lived and that is the 1st beast (Rev 13:3).

The number of the name of the beast in verse 17 is very likely to be the mark itself of the (1st) beast. Read the verse below:

(Rev 14:11 ESV) And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.

The mark belongs to the name of the 1st beast that has an image.

The Man of Revelation 13:18

Almost everyone in the Christian world views this “man” of verse 18 as the false prophet, but if we will examine carefully the passage above (Rev 13:11-18) with the help of Rev 15:2 and Rev 14:11 as what we have just done, it can be said that this “man” could be anybody else aside from the false prophet/2nd beast. The passage does NOT say that this “man” is the 2nd beast/false prophet. Six hundred sixty six is the number of the 1st beast and not of the 2nd beast or the false prophet. This “man,”  as you will see, is distinct from the 2nd beast/false prophet. The following three are distinct and different from each other:

1) 1st Beast with the number 666 (Rev 13:1)
2) 2nd Beast (“another beast”) or the False Prophet (No Number) (Rev 13:11)
3) the “man” of verse 18 with the number Tav Resh Samech Vav (Rev 13:18)

The number of this man (verse 18) could be the same, in whatever form, with the number of the name of the 1st beast but that doesn’t automatically mean that this man is the false prophet or the 2nd beast of Revelation 13. Also, it does not mean that this man is the 1st beast. The author of this article believes that the 1st beast represents the Islamic Caliphates but this topic is not about that beast and/or its number – it is about the man of verse 18 and his number. It will be noticed in verse 18 that it’s the number of the name of the beast (the 1st beast) that should be counted or calculated or reckoned. Who is this man if he is not the false prophet or the 2nd beast? We should search the bible first, shouldn’t we?

There’s a man in the bible that has this number. We don’t have to calculate his name by his number – we have to know the meanings of his number to identify him. In Biblical Hebrew, numbers are represented by the letters of the alphabet. Each letter of the alphabet has its numerical value and each has its own name and each has its own meanings.

Let’s now find the individual meanings of the number of the “man” in verse 18 starting with the smallest number. Click the link below and a new tab or window will open:

Vav (6)
This letter which also represents the number 6 has the meaning of a peg or hook for securing something. Compare this definition to:

(Isa 22:23 ESV) And I will fasten him like a peg in a secure place, and he will become a throne of honor to his father’s house.

Samech (60)
It has the meanings of uphold, support, prop, etc.

(Isa 22:23 ESV) And I will fasten him like a peg in a secure place, and he will become a throne of honor to his father’s house.

Here are the definitions of the Hebrew word “secure” in this verse:

H539 ‘âman
BDB Definition:
1) to support, confirm, be faithful
1a) (Qal)
1a1) to support, confirm, be faithful, uphold, nourish
1a1a) foster-father (substantive)
1a1b) foster-mother, nurse
1a1c) pillars, supporters of the door
1b) (Niphal)
1b1) to be established, be faithful, be carried, make firm
1b1a) to be carried by a nurse
1b1b) made firm, sure, lasting
1b1c) confirmed, established, sure
1b1d) verified, confirmed
1b1e) reliable, faithful, trusty
1c) (Hiphil)
1c1) to stand firm, to trust, to be certain, to believe in
1c1a) stand firm
1c1b) trust, believe
Part of Speech: verb

You will notice that this word “aman” is a verb. The writer does not know why it was translated as an adjective here in Isaiah 22:23.

Resh (200)
This letter has a meaning of head or chief.

(Isa 22:21 ESV) and I will clothe him with your robe, and will bind your sash on him, and will commit your authority to his hand. And he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.

Now look at the definition of the Hebrew word “father” in Isaiah 22:21:

H1 אב ‘âb
BDB Definition:
1) father of an individual
2) of God as father of his people
3) head or founder of a household, group, family, or clan
4) ancestor
4a) grandfather, forefathers – of person
4b) of people
5) originator or patron of a class, profession, or art
6) of producer, generator (figuratively)
7) of benevolence and protection (figuratively)
8) term of respect and honour
9) ruler or chief (specifically)

Tav (400)
It has the meanings mark, sign or signature.

Let’s know first who this man is before we discuss the meaning of the letter Tav. Here’s the whole passage about this man:

Isa 22:20-24 ESV
(20)  In that day I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah,
(21)  and I will clothe him with your robe, and will bind your sash on him, and will commit your authority to his hand. And he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.
(22)  And I will place on his shoulder the key of the house of David. He shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.
(23)  And I will fasten him like a peg in a secure place, and he will become a throne of honor to his father’s house.
(24)  And they will hang on him the whole honor of his father’s house, the offspring and issue, every small vessel, from the cups to all the flagons.

Who is this man Eliakim son of Hilkiah mentioned here? In verse 22, it says that God will lay upon this man’s shoulder the key of the house of David. Ask this key to a serious bible student and Rev 3:7 will come to his mind. Here it is:

(Rev 3:7 KJV) And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

According to this verse, this Eliakim the son of Hilkiah (Isaiah 22:20-24) could be a “type” of our Lord Yehua.

(Notice to the reader: If the reader came to this point without going through the starting and early parts of this topic, he/she is strongly recommended to read it from the beginning to avoid misunderstanding what this topic really meant.)

Let’s go back to the meaning of the Hebrew letter Tav. Does it have something to do with Eliakim son of Hilkiah of Isaiah 22:20-24? The answer will also prove that this man is a “type” of our Lord Yeshua. Let us look at the meaning of the name Eliakim in the Hebrew.

H471 אליקים ‘elyâqîym
BDB Definition:
Eliakim = “God raises” or “God sets up”
1) the son of Hilkiah, master of Hezekiah’s household
2) Josiah’s son, enthroned by Pharaoh
3) a priest who assisted Nehemiah

We can see here that Eliakim means “God raises” or “God sets up.” Now, read the following verses:

(Rom 15:12 Etheridge) And again, Eshaia hath said, there shall be a root of Jeshai, and he who shall arise shall be the chief of the peoples; and upon him will the Gentiles hope.

Jesse (Jeshai) is the father of David.

Isa 11:10-12 KJV
(10)  And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.
(11)  And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.
(12)  And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

Who is this man that God will raise or set up as an ensign? The root of Jesse – our Lord Yeshua.

Our Lord Yeshua carries the number represented by the Hebrew or Aramaic letters Tav, Resh, Samech, and Vav which sums up to six hundred sixty six. (Reminder to the reader: Revelation 13:11-18 does not say that the man of Revelation 13:18 is the 1st beast or the 2nd beast/false prophet.)

666 or 616?

Some people say this number is 616. In Hebrew that would be Tav Resh Yod Vav. Samech replaced by Yod.

Yod (10)
It has the meanings: hand, the right hand, to strike or pierce, a stroke, a blow. Compare the definitions of “hand” to these two verses which are included in the passages we had just studied:

(Isa 22:21 ESV) and I will clothe him with your robe, and will bind your sash on him, and will commit your authority to his hand. And he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.

(Isa 11:11 ESV) In that day the Lord will extend his hand yet a second time to recover the remnant that remains of his people, from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the coastlands of the sea.

Here are BDB’s Definitions of “hand” in these verses:

H3027 יד yâd
BDB Definition:
1) hand
1a) hand (of man)
1b) strength, power (figuratively)
1c) side (of land), part, portion (metaphorically) (figuratively)
1d) (various special, technical senses)
1d1) sign, monument
1d2) part, fractional part, share
1d3) time, repetition
1d4) axle-trees, axle
1d5) stays, support (for laver)
1d6) tenons (in tabernacle)
1d7) a phallus, a hand (meaning unsure)
1d8) wrists
Part of Speech: noun feminine

Looking at these definitions, the possible characteristics of the Lord Yeshua are in blue colored words. Is it Tav Resh Yod Vav (616) or Tav Resh Samech Vav (666)? Just continue reading.

A Pattern?

(Eze 8:1 ESV) In the sixth year, in the sixth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house, with the elders of Judah sitting before me, the hand of the Lord GOD fell upon me there.

(Dan 3:1 ESV) King Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold, whose height was sixty cubits and its breadth six cubits. He set it up on the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.

The year and the month in Ezekiel 8:1 and the measurements in Daniel 3:1 could be denoting false objects of worship as in Revelation 13 but there’s more to them than we think. (The false objects of worship in Ezekiel 8 are detailed in verse 3 up to verse 16.)

Many students of the Bible say that the man clothed in linen in Ezekiel chapter 9 which is a contextual continuation of Ezekiel chapter 8 represents the Lord Yeshua. I agree with them and the following verses support it:

Daniel 10:5-6

(Rev 3:12 ESV) The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name.

(Rev 14:1 ESV) Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.

It is our Messiah who writes on the foreheads of His servants.

Likewise, the 4th man in Daniel 3:25 – the son of the god(s) and an angel (verse 28) – according to the words of King Nebuchadnezzar is also regarded by many as the Lord Yeshua. King Nebuchadnezzar was a polytheistic and he might not knew about the pre-incarnate Lord Yeshua at that time. Should we consider what he had said about the 4th man? Whether we consider it or not, this 4th man could only be either:

– An angel or
– The Lord Yeshua Himself who is the Head of Angelic orders and was called the Angel of the Lord or the Angel of God several times in the Old Testament.

Who is this 4th man? Let’s consider the following things, the measurement of the false object of worship was 6o cubits (height) by 6 cubits (breadth). In the middle of this chapter, the faith of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were also measured – their faith to the true object of worship who also has the numbers 60 (Samech) and 6 (Tav).

Our Messiah is called the Amen in Revelation 3:14. The Hebrew word “Amen” came from the word “aman” which corresponds to Samech (60).

H543 ‘âmên aw-mane’
From H539; sure; abstractly faithfulness; adverbially truly: – Amen, so be it, truth.

H539 ‘âman aw-man’
A primitive root; properly to build up or support; to foster as a parent or nurse; figuratively to render (or be) firm or faithful, to trust or believe, to be permanent or quiet; morally to be true or certain; once (in Isa_30:21; by interchange for H541) to go to the right hand: – hence assurance, believe, bring up, establish, + fail, be faithful (of long continuance, stedfast, sure, surely, trusty, verified), nurse, (-ing father), (put), trust, turn to the right.

Give attention also to the other meanings of “aman” above (blue lettered words) and compare them to:

(Rev 3:14 ESV) “And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: ‘The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God’s creation.
(Rev 19:11 ESV) Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war.

These prove that the number of the Lord Yeshua is Tav Resh Samech Vav (666).

Now read the verses below and compare the meaning of the letter Vav (peg or nail) which has a numerical value of 6:

(Zec 10:3 KJV) Mine anger was kindled against the shepherds, and I punished the goats: for the LORD of hosts hath visited his flock the house of Judah, and hath made them as his goodly horse in the battle.
(Zec 10:4 KJV) Out of him came forth the corner, out of him the nail, out of him the battle bow, out of him every oppressor together.

H3489 yâthêd yaw-thade’
From an unused root meaning to pin through or fast; a peg: – nail, paddle, pin, stake.

The word “corner” in Zechariah 10:4 is understood to be the Lord Yeshua. In Isaiah 28:16, this same word was translated as “cornerstone” by other bible translators.

With these things in mind, we can now see a pattern between Ezekiel chapters 8 to 9, Daniel chapter 3, and Revelation 13:

Number(s) : False Object(s) of Worship : True Object of Worship (Not necessarily in order)

The Cross

Let’s go back to Ezekiel. Here’s the starting verse of chapter 8:

(Eze 8:1) In the sixth year, in the sixth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house, with the elders of Judah sitting before me, the hand of the Lord GOD fell upon me there.

Look at what is written in chapter 9 which is the contextual continuation of chapter 8:

(Eze 9:2 KJV) And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer’s inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brasen altar.
(Eze 9:3 KJV) And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon he was, to the threshold of the house. And he called to the man clothed with linen, which had the writer’s inkhorn by his side;
(Eze 9:4 KJV) And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.

Notice the word “mark” in verse 4. Here’s its definition:

H8420 tâv tawv
From H8427; a mark; by implication a signature: – desire, mark.

This Hebrew word “mark” is the name of the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet – Tav. This letter has a pictograph of a cross. A cross could be what this “mark” means.

This vision came before the incarnation of our Messiah.

Now, somewhere in the Internet, I’ve read about another interpretation of Tav Resh Samech Vav that also points to the Lord Yeshua. Here’s how it was interpreted:

Tav – has a pictograph of a cross.
Resh – has a pictograph and meaning of a head – The Lord Yeshua is the head of the church.
Samech – has a meaning of a prop.
Vav – meaning of a nail.

Put all these meanings and pictographs in one big picture then we’ll see our Lord Yeshua the Messiah crucified.

NOTE: The writer believes that the works of the hands of men should not be worshipped. We should worship God and the Lord Yeshua in spirit and in truth.

Biblically, the numbers 60 and/or 6 may sometimes be denoting false object of worship but they could also be denoting true object of worship as we have seen above. These numbers are NOT bad numbers as some people think. The measurements of the image/idol in Daniel 3:1 (60 cubits height and 6 cubits breadth) can also be found in the Temple of God and its courts:

(Ezr 6:3 ESV) In the first year of Cyrus the king, Cyrus the king issued a decree: Concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, let the house be rebuilt, the place where sacrifices were offered, and let its foundations be retained. Its height shall be sixty cubits and its breadth sixty cubits,

(Eze 41:1 ASV) And he brought me to the temple, and measured the posts, six cubits broad on the one side, and six cubits broad on the other side, which was the breadth of the tabernacle.

(Eze 40:14 LITV) He also made the pillars, sixty cubits, even to the court pillar, from the gate all around.

(1Ki 6:2 ESV) The house that King Solomon built for the LORD was sixty cubits long, twenty cubits wide, and thirty cubits high.

Other things that have the number six or sixty:

(Gen 46:26 ESV) All the persons belonging to Jacob who came into Egypt, who were his own descendants, not including Jacob’s sons’ wives, were sixty-six persons in all.

(Num 7:88 ESV) and all the cattle for the sacrifice of peace offerings twenty-four bulls, the rams sixty, the male goats sixty, the male lambs a year old sixty. This was the dedication offering for the altar after it was anointed.

What about the following verse?

(Rev 15:2 ESV) And I saw what appeared to be a sea of glass mingled with fire–and also those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands.

It is the number of the name of the beast that is meant here to have been conquered. It could not mean to include the MEANINGS of the number of our Lord Yeshua because they are His people (church or body) and He is their chief or head.

Observe in Revelation 13:11-18 that because the “man” in verse 18 is distinct from the 2nd beast/false prophet and that the word “number” in verse 17 belongs to the name of the 1st beast, the false prophet/2nd beast HAS NO NUMBER attached to himself or encoded to his name!

This Man’s Number and the Structure of Revelation

In the 1st topic of this article, The Divisions of Revelation, there’s a link provided (Table of Sections of Revelation) which shows that number six or sixth is the bridging word/number that can be found in the last verse of Section 3 and in the beginning part of Section 4. It is the Vav (6) on the part of Section 3 that acts as the 1st half of that bridging word/number.

/////////////////////// REMINDERS ////////////////////////
2) Are Sections 3 and 6 one continuous passage?
///////////////////From – Linkable Sections//////////////////

Now, in the topic, Linkable Sections, it was explained there that Section 6 of Revelation is the contextual continuation of Section 3. It was also stated there that there are marks that were marked on the last verse of Section 3 and on the 1st verse of Section 6 that will help confirm the continuity of the said two sections.

If we will copy the last verse of the 3rd Section and the 1st verse of Section 6 and paste them in one continuous passage, it will look like this:

(Rev 13:18 ESV) This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666. (Tav(400) Resh(200) Samech(60) Vav(6))
(Rev 19:11 ESV) Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war.

Maybe the reader can now see the marks on these two verses. If not, then study and understand the illustration below:

Aman illustration

It is through the meanings of the word “aman” that we are able to see these marks. Interestingly, look at the other meanings of “aman” from BDB’s Definition:

1b1c) confirmed, established, sure
1b1d) verified, confirmed

The reader now have seen how Vav(6) and Samech(60) which are included in the Lord Yeshua’s number were used in helping us understand the structure of Revelation which in turn will help us understand other Biblical mysteries and prophecies in our studies. The close proximity now of these two verses to each other also helps prove that the man of Rev 13:18 is the Lord Yeshua and that His number is Tav Resh Samech Vav (666).

Visit also the following link to know more about this Hebrew word “aman” whose meanings are in agreement with many attributes of the Lord Yeshua: http://www.preceptaustin.org/hebrew_definitions.htm

The belief that the “man” of verse 18 is the false prophet could be one of the biggest lies in the Christian world. Does the reader still remember the questions at the opening of this topic? Here they are:

1) Is it true that this “man” of verse 18 is really the false prophet?
2) Does the “another beast” or the 2nd beast truly represent also the “man” of verse 18?
3) Or could it be that the “man” of verse 18 is distinct and a different person from the false prophet or the 2nd beast?

It is now clear that the answers to the first two questions are both “NO.” The “man” in verse 18 is NOT the false prophet. The “man” in verse 18 is NOT symbolized by the “another beast” or the 2nd beast. The answer to the third question is “YES.” The “man” in verse 18 is distinct and a different person from the false prophet or the 2nd beast. The “man” in verse 18 is the Rider on the white horse who is called Faithful and True (Rev 19:11). The “man” in verse 18 is the Lord Yeshua. He is the TRUE Prophet and the Real Christ!!!

MAY THE NAME OF THE LAMB AND THE NAME OF HIS FATHER BE ON OUR FOREHEADS

6 On Whose Time?

Sometimes you will notice that while in a middle of a particular vision, the biblical image of the Father or of our Lord Yeshua or of other entities or just a voice from heaven will come and interact with John and give him some additional information, hints, and clues. In these instances, extra care is a must. Sometimes these additional information, hints, and clues belong to the time setting of the owner vision like in Revelation 7:13 – 15; sometimes they could still be future for a particular vision. Sometimes they belong to the time when John is seeing the vision; this is very important especially when John took the open scroll and ate it, up to the time when he saw the breath of life from God entered the two witnesses (Rev 10:8 up to Rev 11:11).

7 The Heaven, The Earth (Land), and The Sea

Some of us know that sometimes in the Bible, the “heaven,” the “earth,” and the “sea” are in their figurative forms. What do they represent if they are in such forms?

HEAVEN:

The literal sun, moon, and stars belong to the literal space/heaven. The gospel, righteousness, and servants of God are likened to sun, light, and stars (Mal 4:2, 2Cor 4:4-6, 2Cor 6:14, Mat 13:43). These symbolic sun, light, and stars belong to symbolic heaven, don’t they?

(Deu 30:4 KJV)  If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the LORD thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee:

(Neh 1:8 KJV)  Remember, I beseech thee, the word that thou commandedst thy servant Moses, saying, If ye transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations:
(Neh 1:9 KJV)  But if ye turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there.

If you will study the passages above, including the verses before and after them in your own bible, you will see that the “heaven” mentioned couldn’t be the literal space/heaven, the literal sky, or the heaven where the Throne of God is. Could the people of Israel be driven away unto the edge of those places? The driving away of Israel really happened historically, but they are still God’s people. Many of them lost their national identity and not a significant number of them had returned to the land that God gave to their ancestors, at least, until 1948 AD. These are the people the Woman of Revelation 12 represents. These people as well as their locations, as for me, are what the symbolic heaven stands for. Now, read about the dream of Joseph, the son of Jacob:

(Gen 37:9 ESV)  Then he dreamed another dream and told it to his brothers and said, “Behold, I have dreamed another dream. Behold, the sun, the moon, and eleven stars were bowing down to me.”
(Gen 37:10 ESV)  But when he told it to his father and to his brothers, his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall I and your mother and your brothers indeed come to bow ourselves to the ground before you?”
(Gen 37:11 ESV)  And his brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the saying in mind.

In here, you will see that Jacob understands what the symbolic sun, moon, and stars represent. Now, compare that passage to:

(Rev 12:1 KJV)  And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:

These symbolic sun, moon, and stars belong to the symbolic heaven, don’t they?

EARTH:

The people and their land who helped the Woman in Revelation 12:16.

NOTE: This part may expand in the future.

SEA:

It is written in Jeremiah:

(Jer 51:42 KJV)  The sea is come up upon Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof.

At that time the “sea” represents Medo-Persian Empire, its people and its place or location. At our time, the author of this article believes, the “sea” still points to the same geographical location and/or its people but, MAYBE, with some minor changes. This “sea” is where:

a) the beast of Revelation 13 came out (verse 1)
b) a great burning mountain which symbolizes the same beast was cast into (Rev 8:8)
c) a stone like a great millstone was cast into by a mighty angel saying: So shall Babylon, the great city, be thrown down with violence, and shall no more be found… (Rev 18:21)

8 The Parallelisms Between The Trumpets and The Last Plagues

If we’re going to compare the 7 Trumpets to the 7 Last Plagues (Bowls) and study them closely, we will see that there are two parallelisms between them:

1) Parallelism of Imagery – “earth,” “sea,” “rivers and the fountains of waters,” and “heaven.” This occurs only from their 1st corresponding stages up to their 4ths. This is NOT time related
2) Parallelism of (Symbolic) Events. This is also NOT time related and it occurs, as I understand it, from their 1st corresponding stages up to somewhere between the mid part and end part of their 6th stages.

1ST TRUMPET :: 1ST BOWL

1st Trumpet:
(Rev 8:7 KJV)  The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

1st Bowl:
(Rev 16:2 KJV)  And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.

Parallelism of Imagery: Earth

Parallelism of Events: Hail and fire mingled with blood were cast upon the earth in the 1st Trumpet whereas a vial which causes noisome and grievous sore was poured out upon the earth in the 1st Bowl.

Explanation of Parallelism of Symbolic Events between the 1st Trumpet and the 1st Bowl:

Their parallelism here is not obvious. We have to examine them to find it. In the 1st Trumpet, we see the phrase “third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.” This phrase is similar to that of Joel 1:19-20. If we will study the context of that passage and the preceding ones, we will see that what it meant is food shortages (it may include other things of life). At least, that’s one of the possible meanings the phrase in the 1st Trumpet could have. Now, let’s examine the word “sore” in the 1st Bowl from Strong’s Greek Dictionary.

G1668 hel’-kos
Probably from G1670; an ulcer (as if drawn together): – sore.

In the Aramaic, the word “sore(s)” has the meaning boil, ulcer.

Analysis Page of Rev 16:2

This word is in the singular form in Rev 16:2. In the account of The Richman and Lazarus the plural form of this word is used.

Here are what the commentators on the account of The Richman and Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31) have to say about about this word:

The People’s New Testament (1891) by B. W. Johnson:
Full of sores. Cutaneous sores are most common in connection with abject poverty.

Barnes:
Full of sores – Covered with ulcers; afflicted not only with poverty, but with loathsome and offensive ulcers, such as often are the accompaniments of poverty and want. These circumstances are designed to show how different was his condition from that of the rich man. “He” was clothed in purple; the poor man was covered with sores; “he” fared sumptuously; the poor man was dependent even for the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table.

According to Wikipedia, the risk factors of Leishmaniasis, a kind of skin ulcer, are:

Risk factors include poverty, malnutrition, deforestation, and urbanization.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leishmaniasis#cite_note-WHO2014-2

The parallelism of the 1st Trumpet and the 1st Bowl is poverty or shortages of things of life.

2ND TRUMPET :: 2ND BOWL

2nd Trumpet:
(Rev 8:8 KJV)  And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;
(Rev 8:9 KJV)  And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.

2nd Bowl:
(Rev 16:3 KJV)  And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.

Parallelism of Imagery: Sea

Parallelism of Symbolic Events: The sea turned into blood but blood of a corpse in the 2nd Bowl.

Explanation of Parallelism of Symbolic Events between the 2nd Trumpet and the 2nd Bowl: None yet.

3RD TRUMPET :: 3RD BOWL

3rd Trumpet:
(Rev 8:10 KJV)  And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;
(Rev 8:11 KJV)  And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.

3rd Bowl:
(Rev 16:4 KJV)  And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood.
(Rev 16:5 KJV)  And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus.
(Rev 16:6 KJV)  For they have shed the blood of, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.
(Rev 16:7 KJV)  And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.

Parallelism of Imagery: Rivers and Fountains of waters

Parallelism of Symbolic Events: In the 3rd Trumpet the waters turned bitter and in the 3rd Bowl into blood.

Explanation of Parallelism of Symbolic Events between the 3rd Trumpet and the 3rd Bowl:

3rd Trumpet:
It has already been explained above (Fourth Section or Hidden Seals Section=>The Messages of the Three Angels=>The Third Angel) that the great star that fell was the false prophet. The word “waters” here represent God’s Truths and His Gospel. These waters were made bitter. Sometimes, the word “bitter” means afflictions as in Ruth 1:20, but, it could also mean false doctrines or idolatrous persons that cause one to turn away from God and to be defiled according to Deu 29:18. The word “died” or “perished” in this Trumpet could mean the opposite of “spiritually saved” like what is meant in 1 Cor 1:18, 2 Cor 4:3, and in 2 Thess 2:9-11 which is exactly about the false prophet and his lying wonders. Many people died spiritually because of the “living” waters that were made bitter.

3rd Bowl:
Blood was given to be drunk by those who have shed the blood of the saints and prophets (Rev 16:6). What does that mean? There are many instances in the bible where blood denotes guilt with the anticipation of judgment and vengeance (Mat 23:33-36, Rev 18:24). Here’s an important thing, the drinking of the blood does NOT imply that the judgment and vengeance occur AT THAT SAME TIME. In Rev 17:6, during the time of the 6th head of the beast, Babylon the Great was found to be drunk with the blood of the saints and martyrs of Lord Yeshua but it is written just a few verses away (v16-17) that she will be destroyed by the ten horns or kings and that will be during the time of the 7th head.

4TH TRUMPET :: 4TH BOWL

4th Trumpet:
(Rev 8:12 KJV)  And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.

4th Bowl:
(Rev 16:8 KJV)  And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.
(Rev 16:9 KJV)  And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

Parallelism of Imagery: Heaven and its hosts

Parallelism of Symbolic Events: In the 4th trumpet the sun, the moon, and the stars were darkened by a third. In the 4th Bowl, the sun was made hotter so that it scorched men with great heat.

Explanation of Parallelism of Symbolic Events between the 4th Trumpet and the 4th Bowl:

Let’s look first at the 4th Bowl:
In here, we see the phrase “scorched with heat.” We will find this phrase in Mat 13:5-6 in the words of our LORD Yeshua himself and His explanation of this phrase in Mat 13:20-21. Tribulation and/or persecution – that’s what it meant but remember, in this plague, it is NOT intended for the saints and the prophets, it could be for those who have shed the blood of the saints and the prophets and have drunk the blood that were given to them in the 3rd Bowl (Rev 16:6). It could be their punishment.

4th Trumpet:
Biblically, the symbolic sun, moon, and stars can refer to:

– The saints and the prophets. Mat 5:14-16, Mat 13:43, Phil 2:15, Dan 12:3
– The Gospel. 2Cor 4:4
– Enlightened way of life. Acts 26:18

The “smiting” and “darkening” are words that can have a meaning similar to that of “scorched with heat” in the 4th Bowl: persecution/tribulation. The word “darkness” itself has the following definition in the Hebrew:

H2822 חשׁך chôshek kho-shek’
From H2821; the dark; hence (literally) darkness; figuratively misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow, wickedness: – dark (-ness), night, obscurity.

If we will take into account the parallelism between this trumpet and the 4th Bowl, this trumpet may be seen as denoting a time of persecution/tribulation of God’s people. The smiting in this trumpet could be or could include the killings or martyrdoms of God’s servants and their brothers in the then future of the prophetic 5th Seal (red colored clause):

Rev 6:9-11 KJV
(9)  And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
(10)  And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
(11)  And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

Note what the souls of those who had already been slaughtered cried out to the Lord (blue colored sentence). This could be the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar that is being offered together with great quantity of incense at the start of the vision of the Seven Trumpets.

Rev 8:2-4 KJV
(2)  And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.
(3)  And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.
(4)  And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.

Now, read the verse that immediately follows the 4th Trumpet:

(Rev 8:13 ASV)  And I saw, and I heard an eagle, flying in mid heaven, saying with a great voice, Woe, woe, woe, for them that dwell on the earth, by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, who are yet to sound.

Isn’t this verse implying that the voices of the other three trumpets are the answer to the prayers of the saints in the altar? As for me, it is and that means that at this point in time, the killings/martyrdoms has already been fulfilled. This knowledge will make us look at the past trumpets especially to the last one which is the 4th Trumpet for the fulfillment of this event. Well, the smiting that resulted in the darkening, the parallelism, and the voice of the eagle flying in mid heaven signaling the completion of the fulfillment of the killings/martyrdoms all agree that it is at time of the 4th Trumpet that the final martyrdom/persecution of the saints occurs.

This conclusion can be proven further by comparing the events of the previous Trumpet (3rd), the current Trumpet (4th) and the next Trumpet (5th) to the events of the vision of the 2nd beast of chapter 13 (Rev 13:11-18).

– The 3rd Trumpet corresponds to the coming out of the 2nd beast, appearing as a lamb but with a voice like that of the dragon. We have now a beginning delimiter.
– The 5th Trumpet corresponds to the implementation of the rule: No Mark: No Buying or Selling. We have now an ending delimiter.
– So, the 4th Trumpet which is in parallel with the 4th Bowl, logically corresponds to:

(Rev 13:15 KJV)  And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

Now, according to Rev 20:4, this persecution of the saints also includes those who did not worship the beast itself and those who did not receive its mark on their right hand or on their foreheads. Isn’t this persecution the exact timeframe of the vision of the 3rd angel in Rev 14:9-13?

1) In what Trumpet does the final persecution/martyrdom belong?
//////////////////// END OF REMINDER/////////////////////

Another proof is waiting in the next topic: Parallelisms Based On The Creation Days

5TH TRUMPET :: 5TH BOWL

5th Trumpet:
Read Rev 9:1-11 in your own bible.

5th Bowl:

(Rev 16:10 KJV)  And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain,
(Rev 16:11 KJV)  And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.

Explanation of Parallelism of Symbolic Events between the 5th Trumpet and the 5th Bowl:

In the 5th Trumpet, the Locust Army which was explained in the above topic will cause shortages in things of life including food. The rule: No Mark: No Buying or Selling will result in hunger and poverty.

In the 5th Bowl, the kingdom of the beast was plunged into darkness and they blasphemed the God of Heaven because of their pains and their sores. Remember the word “sore” in Rev 16:11. This word is the same word that we have studied in the 1st Bowl with risk factors that include poverty and malnutrition. Also the word “pain” in Rev 16:10 and 11 has this definition:

1 grief JLAtg, Syr, LJLA. –(a) pain JBAmb, JBA, Man.
2 wound, sore Syr, JBAmb, JBA. –(a) ulcer JBA. –(b) disease (?) Syr.

6TH TRUMPET :: 6TH BOWL

6th Trumpet:
Read Rev 9:13-21 in your own bible. (Note: this is just a part of the 6th Trumpet)

6th Bowl:
Read Rev 16:12-14 in your own bible. (Note: this is just a part of the 6th Bowl)

Parallelism of (Symbolic) Events: Both accounts speak of great armies. Both mentioned the great river Euphrates. In the 6th Trumpet, in the mid part, the Biblical image of our LORD Yeshua is portrayed as “roaring as a lion” and swearing that there will be no more time. In the 6th Bowl, somewhere between the mid part and the end part, our LORD Yeshua gives a warning about His coming.

9 Parallelisms Based On The Creation Days

In the previous topic, you’ve seen the parallelisms between the Trumpets and the Last Plagues. If we will compare the Seals to the Letters to the Churches, we will also notice a parallelism between them. This parallelism and that of the Trumpets and the Last Plagues have also some kind of relationship or parallelism (2nd level). Now, these parallelisms as you will see are based upon the Creation account in Genesis. There are certain things that only here can we learn or confirm. These are NOT time related parallelisms.

The white color of the horse in the vision of the 1st Seal corresponds to the “light” of Day 1 of the Creation.

(Mat 17:2 KJV) And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

Some may ask who the rider on the white horse is. Let’s reserve our judgment for now.

Remember the parallelism between the 1st Trumpet and the 1st Bowl in the previous topic? If not, read it again. Abject poverty is misery. It could be a type or part of distress or anguish, so, it corresponds to “darkness” of the 1st Day. Here again is the definition of the Hebrew word “darkness:”

H2822 חשׁך chôshek kho-shek’
From H2821; the dark; hence (literally) darkness; figuratively misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow, wickedness: – dark (-ness), night, obscurity.

Looking at the 2nd Trumpet and 2nd Bowl, we can easily see that symbolic “sea” is their parallelism. That imagery came from the waters that are under the firmament and these waters are called “seas” in Day 3 of the Creation.

How about the 2nd Seal which says of a time of no peace? Here’s the answer:

(Isa 57:20 ESV) But the wicked are like the tossing sea; for it cannot be quiet, and its waters toss up mire and dirt.

Seas are naturally restless.

If peace is taken away, the result will be afflictions, destruction, poverty, death, etc. These are some of the things the 2nd Letter is telling us and they also agree with the sea of Day 2. Read it in your own bible.

The “foods” in the 3rd Letter and 3rd Seal agree with the produce of plants and fruit bearing trees of Day 3 which are given as foods in Day 6 (Rev 1:29-30). As for the “rivers” and “fountains of waters” of the 3rd Trumpet and of the 3rd Bowl, which part of Day 3 do they match? There is none but there’s another account of the Creation in chapter 2 of the same book that we can look at. Before reading this account, one must remember that plants and trees were brought forth on the 3rd Day and man on the 6th Day. The chronology of this account of the Creation could be confusing. Plants and trees precede man. Also, it is important to note here that the word “east” in verse 8 could also mean “before” or “aforetime” as in Proverbs 8:22 and Jeremiah 30:20.

In verse 6, it says “And mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground.” The word “mist” here was rendered “spring” and “fountain” by Lamsa and Brenton respectively. In verse 10 to 14, we will find what we are looking for – rivers.

In the 4th Letter, we will find the phrase “great tribulation” (Rev 2:22). It agrees with “darkness” of Day 4.

In the 4th Seal, the events and the word “death” symbolize darkness and correspond to “darkness” of Day 4.

Remember the figurative meaning of darkness?

See also Job 10:18-22.

The 4th Seal is in parallel with the 4th Letter. Does the parallelism between this seal and the 4th Letter suggest that the tribulation here (4th Seal) means the great tribulation?

In the Olivet discourse, the Lord Yeshua said:

(Mat 24:29 KJV)  Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

The darkening of the sun and the moon, and the falling of the stars occurs IMMEDIATELY AFTER the Great Tribulation.

In the 6th Seal where the sun was darkened, there’s a passage that says:

Rev 7:13-14 KJV
(13)  And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
(14)  And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Looking backward from Rev 7:14, the nearest darkening of the sun, moon, and stars occurs at the beginning of the 6th Seal itself. This could be what is meant in the Olivet Prophecy.

The immediate preceding seal from this particular darkening is the 5th Seal but the Parallelism Based on Creation Days is telling or suggesting that the Great Tribulation occurs at the 4th Seal.

If we will look from the 1st Seal up to the 4th Seal, we will see that the 4th Seal has the most and greatest causes of distress in all of them. On the other hand, if we will closely examine the 5th Seal, we will see that it has no “actual” event that happens on its time, that is, between the 4th and the 6th Seals! The 5th Seal is telling of events that are past and future then but no event(s) at its present time. Why would the souls be told to wait for events that are future then if those events are to happen on that same seal (except that it would be told later that they happened in that same seal)?

As I see it, the immediate “actual” event that follows after the 4th Seal (Great Tribulation) is the darkening of heavenly bodies and the shaking of heavens of the 6th Seal. John saw the 5th Seal between the 4th and 6th seals but it has no “actual” events. In actuality, it spans no time frame. This seal contains the prayers of those slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held, and they are being consoled, maybe because what they had gone through was a great ordeal.

Let’s continue with the other correspondences.

In the 4th Trumpet, the sun (and the moon and the stars) were darkened by a third. It denotes tribulation or persecution but not the Great Tribulation, it is already past at this point in time.

In the 4th Bowl, the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat… That means tribulation or persecution according to Lord Yeshua’s own words. Read Mat 13:5-6 and his explanation on Mat 13:20-21. (Again, this is not the Great Tribulation. That event is in the 4th Seal.) The sun is the parallelism between this Plague and the 4th Trumpet and that matches the sun of Day 4.

/////////////////////// REMINDERS ////////////////////////
1) In what Trumpet does the final persecution/martyrdom belong?
//////////////////// END OF REMINDER/////////////////////

In the 4th Trumpet it is written:

(Rev 8:12 Murdock) And the fourth angel sounded, and a third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so that the third part of them were dark, and they became dark; and the day did not give light for the third part of it, and the night in like manner.

Look at the last part of the verse, the underlined one and compare it to the following passage particularly the underlined phrases:

Gen 1:16-18 ESV
(16)  And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars.
(17)  And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth,
(18)  to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

Doesn’t the 4th Trumpet when compared to the 4th Day tells that the authority of the “Sun, Moon, and Stars” diminishes by a third? The authority of the Woman of Revelation 12?

(Rev 12:1 KJV) And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:

It is expected that the Woman (covenant people) would become strong as a result of the nourishing (Rev 12:6).

Day 5 tells us about the bringing forth of the creatures of the sea and the birds that fly. The beast that implements the rule: No Mark: No Buying or Selling in the 5th Trumpet and the beast of the 5th Bowl are one and the same beast. It belongs to the symbolic sea as pointed out above in the topic: The Heaven, The Earth (Land), and The Sea. In here, the peoples or nations that comprise the “beast” correspond to the creatures of the sea of the 5th Day of Creation. How about God’s people in the 5th Letter and in the 5th Seal? Do they correspond to the birds that fly in the open firmament of heaven of Day 5? As for me, that’s what the parallelisms here in Day 5 is implying. Birds are also of the heaven like the sun, the moon, and the stars. They belong to mid-heaven. See Rev 19:17-18.

These things prove that sometimes the “heaven” and the “sea” are in their symbolic forms and that logically includes the “earth” or the “land.”

Can the reader still remember from the previous topics entitled “The Two Myriads of Myriads Troops” and “Linkable Sections” that number six, at least here in Revelation, is a mystery number?

One can see from the table of Day 6 above that “mystery” is their parallelism. According to my understanding, these “mysteries” are based upon a verse of the creation account in chapter 2 of Genesis (2nd account of the creation):

(Gen 2:24 KJV) Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

The part of which this verse belongs to is an expounding of Gen 1:27 of Day 6. So, the events here also belong to Day 6. Read also the preceding verses in your own bible. Look at how the parallelism goes based on Gen 2:24 of Day 6. This time it’s not between the Letters and the Seals, the Trumpets and the Bowls. It’s between the 6th Letter and the 6th Bowl, the 6th Seal and the 6th Trumpet.

6th Letter and 6th Bowl

6th Letter: A house is entered through a door. If a person has the key to the house, this person can enter the house.

6th Bowl: A thief usually doesn’t have a key to the house he is planning to enter. He will break in. See Mat 24:36-44 where information about the coming of the Lord Yeshua as a thief is given.

A house is a dwelling place and it corresponds to the “flesh” or “body” of Gen 2:24. According to 1Cor 6:19 a body (of a man of God) is a temple or dwelling place of the Holy Spirit.

6th Seal and 6th Trumpet

6th Trumpet: Rev 10:7 is not clear as to what particular mystery it is referring to. It could be referring or related to the coming of the Lord because that is also the time of his 2nd coming – just before the 7th Trumpet (Mat 24:31, 1Thes 4:16). At his coming in great power and glory he will be LEAVING his Father in heaven.

6th Seal: The 6th Seal in the Hidden Seals Section has the following verse:

(Rev 14:4 KJV)  These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.

The 144,000 are portrayed as following the Lamb wherever he goes. Can it be denied that the Lamb and the “firstfruits” are clinging together in this reopened 6th Seal?

It might come to the mind of the reader that the chronology of the two Biblical mysteries in the 6th Seal and 6th Trumpet is not correct; it should be the other way around. That is true but the parallelisms BETWEEN the Letters, Seals, Trumpets, and Bowls in relation to the creation days are all NOT time related.

Another Parallelism between the 6th Seal and 6th Trumpet

6th Trumpet: Rev 10:7 is telling about the ending of the mystery of God. It corresponds to “shall a man leave his father and his mother” of Gen 2:24. It’s the ending of a man’s bachelor life.

6th Seal: The Fourth Section of Revelation is the re-opening of the 6th and the 7th Seals. The 6th Seal is the beginning of that mystery section and it corresponds to “a man…shall cleave unto his wife” of Gen 2:24 – a beginning of a married life of a man.

Gen 2:24 was quoted by Paul:

(Eph 5:31 KJV) For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
(Eph 5:32 KJV) This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

The correspondences based on Day 6 confirms the validity of the Fourth Section of the book of Revelation as the 6th and 7th Seals in a different perspective.

HOW GREAT OUR GOD IS!!!

10 The 4 Living Creatures and the 24 Elders

Who or what are these 4 Living Creatures and the 24 Elders? Their identities are a very deep mystery of Revelation. One must go through the other mysteries of Revelation before he/she can reach the “place” of these two great groups of entities. Only God through our Lord Yeshua can unlock these other mysteries for us. Our Lord Yeshua, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, holds the key to these mysteries.

To understand their identities better, one must read first/also the preceding topics particularly the “The Divisions of Revelation,” “The Parallelism Between The Trumpets and The Last Plagues” (not time related), and the “Parallelisms Based On The Creation Days” (not time related).

Rev 4:9-11 KJV
(9)  And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,
(10)  The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
(11)  Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Verses 9 and 10 seem to tell that the 4 Living Creatures and the 24 Elders are symbolically related to each other. If we will multiply the 6 wings of the 4 Living Creatures by their number, the result will be 24 – the number of the 24 Elders. Who or what do these two groups of entities represent or personify? The author doesn’t know anyone or anything that could conform to their attributes except what we have just studied – the Letters to the churches, the Seals, the Trumpets, the Last Plagues, and the parallelisms between the 1st 6 parts of them. This “theory” is very strong. Let the initials L, S, T, B represent the Letters to the churches, the Seals, the Trumpets, and the Bowls (Last Plagues) respectively.

  • The 4 individual Living Creatures personify the L, S, T, B. Their wings seem to represent the 1st 6 parts of the L, S, T, B.
  • The 24 Elders represent the 1st 6 parts of the L, S, T, B as a whole. It’s only up to their 6th parts maybe because there are only six creation days where the parallelisms between the L, S, T, B are based.

They have different sets of attributes. In the previous topic, the parallelisms between the L, S, T, B are based on the creation days. How could this thing be met? The above verses Rev 4:9-11 are hints and clues about these two groups of entities. As I understand it, these verses could be interpreted as thus: whenever a parallelism between the L, S, T, B occurs a praise that is also a hint is offered by the 24 Elders (both of them are affected by the parallelism) to God and that hint is in verse 11 that says God created all things and by His will or for His pleasure are all things existed and were created.

The L, S, T, B as the 4 Living Creatures:

Rev 4:6-8 ISV
(6)  In front of the throne was something like a sea of glass as clear as crystal. In the center of the throne and on each side of the throne were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back.
(7)  The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature was like an ox, the third living creature had a face like a human, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle.
(8)  Each of the four living creatures had six wings and were full of eyes inside and out. Without stopping day or night they were saying, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, who is, and who is coming.”

“Eyes” figuratively means knowledge, mental and spiritual faculties. See Strong’s and BDB’s Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries. In verse 6, it says that these 4 living creatures are full of eyes. These “eyes” could mean the individual knowledge and information (not in parallel) they carry to themselves from their 1st parts up to their 6th or maybe, up to their 7th parts. The “eyes” in their wings (verse 8), could refer to the knowledge and information that are in parallel between them from their 1st parts up to their 6th parts. In verse 7, they were individually likened to a lion, an ox, face like a man, and a flying eagle and these could refer to the L, S, T, B respectively. The author does not see any indication how the order of assigning should be done, so, the order of their appearance – which came first – will be the one that will be used here.

1st Living Creature – The Letters to the Churches – Lion

Our Lord Yeshua, in His letters to the churches commends the angels of the good works in their corresponding churches. He also corrects them and gives warnings against any wrong doings. Now, what does the lion-like attribute of the Lord has to do with the Letters to the Churches?

(Hos 5:14 ASV)  For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will carry off, and there shall be none to deliver.
(Hos 5:15 ASV)  I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me earnestly.

(Job 10:15 NIV)  If I am guilty—woe to me! Even if I am innocent, I cannot lift my head, for I am full of shame and drowned in my affliction.
(Job 10:16 NIV)  If I hold my head high, you stalk me like a lion and again display your awesome power against me.

You will see in the contexts of these passages that the Lord God is like a lion when he rebukes and disciplines His own people. That’s exactly what the Lord Yeshua will do if His admonitions and warnings to the angels of the churches are not heeded. He will be like a lion to them.

What about the following verse?

(Rev 5:5 KJV)  And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

Should the lion-like attribute of the Lord Yeshua be assigned to the Seals because of this verse? As for me, it should be assigned to the Letters to the Churches because it’s the right order and reading the next verses…

Rev 5:6-9 KJV
(6)  And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
(7)  And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.
(8)  And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.
(9)  And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

…the lamb attribute of the Lord Yeshua is the one who opened the book and loosen the seven seals thereof. Read Revelation chapter 6 up to chapter 8.

2nd Living Creature – The Seals – Ox

The Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David opens the Seals as a lamb and not as a lion. Even in the re-opening of the 6th Seal, it is the imagery of the Lamb that is there.

(Rev 6:5 ASV)  And when he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, Come. And I saw, and behold, a black horse; and he that sat thereon had a balance in his hand.
(Rev 6:6 ASV)  And I heard as it were a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, A measure of wheat for a shilling, and three measures of barley for a shilling; and the oil and the wine hurt thou not.

This passage denotes scarcity of food but there’s another thing in here. In Rev 5:6 it says that the Lamb is in the midst of the 4 Living Creatures, so it could be His voice that came out in verse 6 above. Now, what is common between a lamb, wheat, barley, wine, oil, and an ox? All of them can be an offering to God. See Exodus 29:40 and Ezekiel 45:13.

In the 5th Seal, the symbolic souls of those who had been slain for the word of God are portrayed as being under the altar where offerings are made.

In light of these things, we can now tell who the rider on the white horse in the 1st Seal is – the Lord Yeshua. He is the Passover Lamb that was slaughtered as an offering to redeem us from our sins. The verse says:

(Rev 5:5 ESV)  And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.”

(Rev 5:9 ESV)  And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation

If we will compare these two verses, it seems that the words “conquered” (verse 5) and “slain” (verse 9) are contextually synonymous to each other.

Some bible translations render the word “conquered” in verse 5 as “prevailed”

3rd Living Creature – The Trumpets – Face like a Man

In the 5th Trumpet, there’s a verse that describes a quality of the symbolic Locust Army – their faces like the faces of men (Rev 9:7).

A bigger aspect of the phrase “face like a man” is not easily seen in the Trumpets because we are not aware of it. We recognize a man through his face. Even if we haven’t met a certain man before, we could recognize him through a picture or a sketch of his face, but what really makes us recognize him is the collection of information regarding the qualities of his eyes, nose, lips, etc. It is this collection of information concerning the qualities of a man or group of men that is referred to by me as a bigger aspect of “face like a man” and these can be found in the Trumpets. Read the descriptions of the Locust Army with their King in the 5th Trumpet; The Two Myriads of Myriads Troops and the Two Witnesses in the 6th Trumpet.

What about this verse?

(Rev 8:13 HNV)  I saw, and I heard an eagle, flying in mid heaven, saying with a loud voice, “Woe! Woe! Woe for those who dwell on the earth, because of the other voices of the trumpets of the three angels, who are yet to sound!”

This is the only instance of a “flying eagle” in the Trumpets, but if you will look at it closely, you will see that it’s not part of any Trumpet, is it? As for me, it’s part of the 7th Seal, speaking about the 5th, 6th, and the 7th Trumpet.

4th Living Creature – The Last Plagues – Flying Eagle

One of the things that an eagle’s wings symbolize is power as in Jeremiah 48:40 and Ezekiel 17:3, 7. According to the parallelisms based on Day 5, birds can represent God’s people, so, it can be stated that a “flying eagle” means God’s people or holy people while using their power. Can the reader still remember what is said in the subtopic “The Seven Last Plagues” under The Fourth Section or Hidden Seals Section in the topic The Divisions of Revelation? It is pointed out there that the Two Witnesses are the ones God will use in pouring out some, if not all, of the Seven Last Plagues. These two witnesses are God’s people. They can be represented by a bird, specifically an eagle. And their power – the wings of an eagle. What is stated there supports what is being said here and vice versa.

The L, S, T, B as the 24 Elders:

The entire L, S, T, B except their 7th parts could be what these 24 Elders personify. Some people call the assembly of the earthly counterpart of these elders as Sanhedrin or Great Council. Even some small church organizations call some of their members as elders. These are the learned men and who are holding office (seat or office), trustworthy and honest men (white robes) and possessing authority (crown of gold).

Each of these 24 Elders carries information to himself. Let’s say, for example, the elder that represents the 1st Seal knows there’s a white horse and its rider had a bow and it was given a crown and it came forth conquering and to conquer. Some of them possess more information than the others, but just like the real human elders who convene and share their thoughts on matters of beliefs and doctrines, they also share the information they held among themselves. So, the knowledge of each of these 24 Elders represent the collective information that all of them held. Add to these things the information that came out of the parallelisms between the L, S, T, B which they represent. Like earthly human elders they teach us new and deeper things, and help us understand deep mysteries, some of which can only be learned through them. That’s exactly what they did when we were studying the topic – Parallelisms Based on the Creation Days, isn’t it? We can inquire from them some things that are unclear to us.

The 24 Elders are MORE THAN JUST personifications of the L, S, T, B.

Real human elders do not just teach, they also study. They learn from the Holy Scripture, the word of God, so as with the 24 Elders, they seem to acquire new knowledge from God who is seated on the throne and from the Lamb who is in their midst. You will notice these things when you study what the elder said to John at the 6th Seal. Some are outside of the collective information they represent.

Rev 7:13-17 KJV
(13)  And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
(14)  And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
(15)  Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
(16)  They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.
(17)  For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

In this vision, John says that it is the elder who knows who the multitudes are (verse 14). Is it because the elder is an elder? As for me, yes, because elders convene on matters of doctrines and beliefs and the Parallelisms Based on the Creation Days is like a convention to them. They know when the great tribulation occurs because of the information they hold and because of the parallelisms. Let’s now find where the elder got what he had told to John in the passage above.

Knowledge they learned from God and from the Lamb or Lord Yeshua who were very near to them:
– “have washed their robes” (verse 14) – Rev 22:14
– “blood of the Lamb” (verse 14) – Rev 12:11
– “he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them” (verse 15) – Rev 21:3
– “living fountains of waters” (verse 17) – Rev 22:1-2
– “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes” (verse 17) – Rev 21:4

“Inherent” Knowledge:
– “great tribulation” (verse 14) – 4th Letter Rev 2:22
– “day and night” (verse 15) – 4th Trumpet Rev 8:12
– “neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat” (verse 16) – 4th Bowl Rev 16:8-9

Their inherent knowledge here strongly support that the great tribulation occurs on the 4th Seal and that the 24 Elders are the personifications of the 1st six parts of  the L, S, T, B as a whole with the parallelisms between them.

These things don’t stop here. This vision occurs on the 6th Seal. Who is the elder that represent this seal? Count it from the 1st Letter not including the 7th Letter up to this 6th Seal – it’s the 12th elder. Number 12 again in this Seal that’s full of 12’s.

Let’s study and find where the elder got what he had told to John in the verse below:
(Rev 5:5 ESV)  And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.”

Knowledge they learned from God and from the Lord Yeshua:
– “Root of David” – Rev 22:16

“Inherent” Knowledge:
– “Lion” – 6th Trumpet Rev 10:3
– “tribe of Judah” 6th Seal Rev 7:5
– “David” – 6th Letter Rev 3:7 and Rev 3:9

(Not the person David) Look at the other meaning of “David:”

Strong’s Hebrew Dictionary:
H1732
dâvid  dâvîyd
daw-veed’, daw-veed’
From the same as H1730; loving; David, the youngest son of Jesse: – David.

BDB’s Hebrew Definitions:
H1732
dâvid  /  dâvîyd
David = “beloved
1) youngest son of Jesse and second king of Israel

Read a verse from the 6th Letter (Philadelphia):
(Rev 3:9 LITV)  Behold, I give out of the synagogue of Satan those saying themselves to be Jews, and they are not, but they lie. Behold, I will make them come and bow down before your feet, and they shall know that I loved you.

The definition of the word “Philadelphia:”
G5359 Philadelpheia
Thayer Definition:
Philadelphia = “brotherly love
1) a city of Lydia in Asia Minor, situated near the eastern base of of Mount Tmolus, founded and named by the Pergamene king, Attalus II Philadelphus. After the death of Attalus III Philometor, 133 BC, it together with his entire kingdom came by his will under the jurisdiction of the Romans.
Part of Speech: noun proper locative

2) in a broader sense, loving one like a brother, loving one’s fellow countrymen
2a) of an Israelite

A Related Word by Thayer’s/Strong’s Number: from G5384 and G80

Let’s continue with what the elder has told to John in Rev 5:5.
– “has conquered” – 7th Letter Rev 3:21 and 1st Seal Rev 6:2
Should we include the “has conquered” in the 7th Letter? The 24 Elders don’t include the 7th parts of the L, S, T, B. The “conquering” in the 1st Seal if included will make the Seals to have a double entry.

What about the things they said in the 7th Trumpet?

Rev 11:15-18 ESV
(15)  Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.”
(16)  And the twenty-four elders who sit on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped God,
(17)  saying, “We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, who is and who was, for you have taken your great power and begun to reign.
(18)  The nations raged, but your wrath came, and the time for the dead to be judged, and for rewarding your servants, the prophets and saints, and those who fear your name, both small and great, and for destroying the destroyers of the earth.”

The events that were said by the 24 Elders and by the loud voices in heaven are what comprise the 7th Trumpet. John did not see these events; he heard them, instead.

What about the “new song” which they sang together with the 4 Living Creatures and which only the 144,000 could learn?

(Rev 5:9 NIV)  And they sang a new song: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.
(Rev 5:10 NIV)  You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.”

We already know that the 1st part of this song (the opening of Seals) has two applications, however its “origin” is not known to this article’s author. Maybe information like this falls under the attribute “crowns of gold” for the 24 Elders. The rest of the information on this song can be traced to John’s Letter to the 7 Churches in Asia:

Rev 1:4-6 ISV
(4)  From John to the seven churches in Asia. May grace and peace be yours from the one who is, who was, and who is coming, from the seven spirits who are in front of his throne,
(5)  and from Jesus the Messiah, the witness, the faithful one, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To the one who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood
(6)  and has made us a kingdom, priests for his God and Father, be glory and power forever and ever! Amen.

If we will compare the rest of their song to the letter of John to the 7 Churches in Asia (the underlined ones) we will see that the 7 Churches represent (people who were purchased by the blood of our Lord Yeshua from) “every tribe and language and people and nation” and vice versa. These (people from) “every tribe and language and people and nation” can be found on the 6th Seal (Rev 7:9) and on the 6th Trumpet (Rev 11:9). So, the multitude from “every tribe and language and people and nation” on the 6th Seal (Rev 7:9) are the 7 Churches who came out of the great tribulation. And on the 6th Trumpet, Rev 11:9 could be saying that members of the 7 Churches will gaze on the dead bodies of their brethren – the Two Witnesses – who are also God’s people and will refuse to bury them.

We should be thankful to God and praise Him for bringing us somewhere in His unfathomable wisdom where it is too deep and too intricate for us to reach by ourselves only yet so clear if we understand what are in there.

If you have a PC that emits whining sound, try to change the refresh rate of the display. Say for example you have it at 85Hz, adjust it to 75Hz.
